Worth "Quoting"?

Now let's get down to some basics.

He said he doesn't like GUM, and it shows.

Why? Because his Grammar, Usage, and Mechanics skills are weak, at best. Likewise his spelling and comprehension.

Make all the excuses that in the world - most of the reality is that he was a frequent absentee from school for most of his K-12 career (apparently skiing, getting stoned with friends, and extended trips to Florida were more important than learning basic skills that a middle school student could handle).

When someone knows that you are lacking in an area, as he sometimes claim, it is better to have someone proofread and edit for you than to let ego send out error loaded communications.

Oh, wait, that was one of the daily items that was required of me on a "drop everything and help right now" basis.

It wouldn't be as much of an issue if the errors were occasional, however consistent failure to use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation can make people extremely reluctant to patronize a business.

A prime example is his use of quotation marks.

He puts them around almost EVERYTHING, and somehow still never manages to use them appropriately (click here for the correct uses).

Given that he always signed greeting cards with "Love" - somehow the only correct use from the list at the link above seems to be #3 - when the meaning of the word in quotes is dubious. (And since he has a very low reading comprehension, dubious means not believable.)

Trust me, very few people who know him well thinks he loves anyone other than himself. To paraphrase Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry in Sudden Impact, "He's a legend in his own mind."

Now that's worth quoting!
